A Deliberate Protest Vote – But Let’s Talk About It
I had high expectations—very high. I loved Parasite, its grotesque style, its razor-sharp social critique. A film that cemented Bong Joon-ho as one of the greatest names in contemporary cinema. And from a filmmaker of his caliber, I didn’t expect what I saw today. Was it the fault of the production? Or has he simply fallen into the clutches of Hollywood capitalism?

The long, dialogue-free scenes echo with a deafening silence, brimming with questions and admiration.
However, one thought stayed with me throughout the film. Kubrick’s perfectionism was so ahead of its time, yet still not futuristic enough to imagine a future that moved beyond the protagonism of the white American man. He sought to overturn existence itself, using art rather than CGI to blur the line between artist and spectator, yet he couldn’t reimagine social roles even 30 years ahead of his time.
On this, Bergman has no rival.
