  bravely stating that this might still be my favorite romcom out there. i think it's because it feels like a reversal of the typical gender roles in romcoms -- here hugh grant is the clumsy quirky low-income shopgirl and julia roberts is the rich tough bad boy who's secretly a softie. plus the side characters are all so well played and distinct and they genuinely ARE funny, even though i've seen this a million times. also pretty sure this movie is patient zero for my lifelong attraction to goofy flop loser men
