incredibly frustrating how no ones blinking an eye at the child marriage? I udnerstand this is a part of India thats being dealt with but the movie made no attempt at critiquing it, instead even romantacising it with the flashback sequence. Especially taken aback as this is an Amhit Khan productions film. The feminism is great but theres a glaring hole in that critique by just treating the girl as a woman.

Robert Eggers, Willam Dafoe, and Jarin Blaschke are a holy Trinity of making an unforgettable film. The vision comes to life in such detail, the meticulous shooting and acting has everything to do with it. There was stellar acting from everyone, you felt so immersed into this English speaking Germany that you really fear the same plague and creature the characters fear. pretty unpredictable as well even with such foreshadowing throughout the movie. really enjoyed it, Bill Skarsgård's trachea was a noble and worthwhile sacrifice.

Shooting in an amature style requires a great understanding of cinema, found footage films are difficult to get right because of this, and this film gets so close. A common flaw is over-acting, everyones panicking, as they would in real life yes, but in a film it has to breath. Panic should rise sharply sometimes, fall slowly others, but rec did what it wanted and that was panic all the time. Makes me irked by characters before being empathetic for them.

Sick as hell cast and protag crew, was really rooting for them all throughout the film. The chapters were perfectly segmented and actually served a great purpose to the story. The reveals and twists were timed in such a way to keep you engaged the whole time and were deeply fascinating. Korean shamanism is interesting as well, the interconnectedness of spirituality in asia is depected between the spirit they unleash and the souls that resided there before, and even after.
