The cinematographer’s back must hurt for how much it CARRIED this clunky film. I love when filmmakers push the boundaries of how a movie should look and DP, Robbie Ryan, did just that. His use of the fish-eye lens and camera movement was breathtaking.
The story… not so much. Director, Yorgos Lanthimos, focused too hard on the sexuality of Bella, when the overarching plot of the story should’ve been Bella’s true backstory. Instead, we witness Emma Stone furiously jumping for over an hour.

THIS IS CINEMA. From Austin Butler’s shivering villainy to the big-screen eye candy, Dennis Villeneuve elevates the Dune Arc to the stratosphere with an astonishing sequel.
This movie took me on an unnecessary trip. Might’ve been different if I hit a blunt, beforehand. But the twists, the mysterious cuts and spurts of Kubrick aesthetics of not knowing the true alignment of the story, really didn’t hit home for me. And the fact that I have to YouTube an explanation of the film, adds to my frustration.
My girlfriend told me I HAD watch this childhood classic, so I did. It actually wasn’t as bad as I thought. I mean, of course it’s a cheesy teen movie, but the storyline was better than most in the genre. Terrible acting and Great Value graphics, but still managed to notch a second star.
