“Island of Lost Sous” was my cinematic Holy Grail. I first became aware of this 1933 pre-code horror gem through photos in “Famous Monsters of Filmland”. My adolescent brain was struck by images of a sinister looking Charles Laughton, dressed entirely in white, wielding a whip against legions of hideous half men/half monsters. Pictures of an almost unrecognizable Bela Lugosi looking like the Wolfman fascinated me. Unlike “Frankenstein”, “Dracula” and “The Mummy”, the movie was never shown on late night…

George Harrison: Living in the Material World 2011
I am a huge Beatles fan and especially admired much of George Harrison's post Beatle work. I was very excited at the prospect of a Martin Scorcese directed biography of Harrison. The film is very good as Scorcese delivers a memorable portrait of the "Quiet" Beatle.
The Fab Four's early days are lovingly and, at times, touchingly detailed. I was happy that many previously unseen Beatles photos are featured along with interviews with such early key figures as Klaus Voorman…
