  Cat contemplates mortality, grieves. Capybara drives a sailboat. [REDACTED] gets … abducted by aliens, maybe? Oh, and there’s no humans or dialogue. This is really sublime stuff. Thanks, Latvia 🇱🇻

  With MaXXXine in theaters now, you may be tempted to revisit some of Ti West’s earlier films. Here’s one to skip.

  Like House of the Devil, it’s slow burn horror, big on creaky-old-floorboards-but-otherwise-quiet atmosphere. Unlike House of the Devil, nothing interesting happens. There’s little payoff to all the atmosphere—and the uncharismatic leads make it that much harder to stay awake.
