Fantasia 1940
Fantasia being a Orchestral performance with interpreted animations based on those musical performances was so fantastically unexpected. Going into it, I expected the usual Disney plots we have today, friendship is magic (omg mlp reference), the bad guy loses, etc... and while that IS in this, its more of an exploration in art and music and the way it makes us feel. Insanely atmospheric movie, from the START you feel like shit is FUCKED off the bat and you're absolutely right. After watching Nosferatu, I had to rewatch the VVITCH.
Anyway, here's some scenes I love:
- The slow 'descent' of the family leaving the plantation on the cart together, descending below the horizon and being all-consumed by the treeline they're leaving to.
