One of the realest films out there, it pierces my soul like nothing else. For as relentlessly dark and uncomfortable it is it always stays completely compassionate towards Jackie and Michael. They are performances that could only be realised by people who have inhabited these characters for years. I have seen this several times now and I’m always completed crushed by it.

A beautiful film of near supernatural potency. The escalating force that bubbles and builds throughout is meticulously crafted. Very heartening to see a great turnout and reception to this film, the new restoration should only see its reputation grow.
