  I don’t know if kubrick had more in mind thematically when making a movie than what is clearly shown, but I liked the fact that although I was ultimately underwhelmed (I wanted the cult stuff to be deeper/more intricate), after thinking about the film I appreciated small things such as

  the fact that the password fidelio ties in with the overarching concept of infidelity, and that the film’s ending is basically a continuation of their fight at the beginning and them coming to terms and accepting their repressed instincts.
