To sum this movie up. I learned who Robbie Williams was in the theater. I had zero clue what I was walking into. It’s an experience you never seen in a biopic. Warm heart felt moments. Vulnerable moments with his grandmother and father. Processing his inability to make hits. Fast pace degenerate behavior spiraling his life. Being outcasted by his band mates. Forcing the solo career when he was hit dry. Coke raging party animal. ALL WHILE SEEING A CGI MONKEY.

I could watch this a million times.
It lives up to the recommendation. Lives up to the award nominations. The most intriguing part of this movie. It’s about a man writing about a plight. The plight of black Americans in literature. While simultaneously filming a movie trying to discard stereotypes about black films. Intertwining the book within the film. It’s literally genius level writing.
