Presence 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
This is PSA to always make your own drinks or watch it being made.
I like how Soderbergh takes risks in his storytelling or delivery, even in small ways. A reliable director. A nonfrills movie that keeps you engaged.

The Wind That Shakes the Barley 2006
This was a great film. Out gunned and out numbered, the people of Cork have an uphill battle during the Irish war of Independence. Sugarcane 2024
I was a little hesitant to watch because of the subject matter but I'm really glad I did. The impact of Indian Boarding Schools isn't well known to American public. Even though the subject of this doc is the Canadian Truth and Reconciliation, there's a through line about the larger impact of colonialism and generational trauma. The ending conveyed so much and had a profound effect on me. I thought the lingering silences and open ended questions from the subjects of the film was so delicate and impactful. Beautiful merging of form and content.
