Just great in its subversion from expectation. The fact there is no twist feels like a twist in and of itself in the first episode and really puts you inside the head of the family and how it must feel to be so detached from a crime committed by someone so close to them. And then, of course, comes the real meat of the show, dichotomising by separately focusing on different issues like masculinity and social media.

For me, where I got taken out of it was when Sue woke up from the termination-switch scene. Basically turned into an episode of WWE, and obviously only got more outlandish from there. The base idea of exploring domestic abuse, but choosing to hone in on something harder to detect like emotional abuse, presents a genuinely interesting theme. Reminds me of what The Assistant did in taking the subtler side but rightfully attaching significant importance to it. However, in this show's case, it does barely anything more than present the theme.
I'd say 4-and-a-bit of the 10 episodes (2, 3, 9 & 10) are actually focused on this, but the rest is a spiralling…
