    I came into this film with a lot of negative expectations and I got something a lot weirder and better than I could’ve hoped for. Somehow the extremely artificial CGI backgrounds work in this. The production design, costumes, cinematography, and color are top notch. The music matches the tone of the film perfectly. But what carries this the most, is the acting. Emma Stone truly deserved her Oscar for such a wide ranging performance. Her character felt unique and interesting.…

    There is nothing more complex and as simple as a child’s mind. The root of truth is buried beneath each perspective, society’s rules and values piled on top. Would you not fight for your child? Would you not grieve the loss of your career and image? Would you not love, even with the challenges that come with it? This film gently captures these ideas and lays them out beautifully in a raw and dreamlike setting. One to deeply ponder over.

    A truly great entry into experimental horror. This feels like everyone’s childhood nightmares. Such nostalgia and fear throughout. A few moments where the pace was so slow it lost my attention, but then it sucked me right back in and had me at the edge of my seat. I totally understand many not liking this, it’s definitely not for most. But, it was right up my alley for a backrooms type of horror. I was hoping for a little bit more exposition but I can’t argue that the director didn’t fully developed their vision.

    Pretty much exactly what I wanted out of a Mario movie. 3D animation is getting kinda pretty y’all. Need more Yoshi and Luigi next time! Voice actors were great and I barely noticed Chris Pratt so that’s a good thing lol.

    Edit: looking back on it I do feel like there isn’t much substance in this movie. It’s super predictable and I feel like the story is only there to get us from point A to point B. But honestly,…
