really struggling to write anything about it because its just.. good? like really good? the animation is good, the music is good, the story is really good. it is emotional, its pretty, its fun. like yea damn good movie.

hard to rate this any higher when it seems to be fetishizing people a little while the whole plot is about how evil that is. but it was well acted and shot and the plot was nothing amazing but pretty good, and it was cute at times so its hard to put it any lower. im in a dilemma.

Genuinely worst movie of all time. Read the book beforehand, hated that as well. Laughing with my family the whole time at how dumb the plot was. Actors have 0 charm, Charlie is totally personality-less, entire subplots like the one with the sister from the book cut off entirely to fit it into a movie that should never have been made. How is this movie liked?

Truest anti-war movie. Far better than newest version. It's not just about the war itself, its about the system that turns these kids with individual personalities into tools. It's boring, and uncomfortable to watch not just from gore but in the sound aspect as well, as it should be. It doesn't end climatically but uses its ending perfectly.
