The Brutalist 2024
For a 3h+ film, it really did go by quickly. Impeccably shot, acted and paced with it mirroring the idea of art and, in this instance, brutalism.
Oh and a critique of capitalism and class, as is often the case.

Midsommar 2019
'Midsommar' is an entirely different beast to Ari Aster's 'Hereditary', but it still packs an awful punch.
A story of overcoming grief, pain and toxic relationships, the unsettling and disturbing events and imagery in the film provide the perfect compliment to the film's theme. And thematically, there are a tonne of things to pick up on, drawing in the audience to connect the dots and provide some of the meat themselves.
