    Absolutely brilliant!!

Messy, gorgeous, riveting, terrifying, claustrophobic, dirty, strange, weird, horrifying, eerie, smelly, dark…one of the most unique films I have ever seem. This movie should be studied in film schools for its superb craftsmanship and fearless performances.

    Absolute, 100% brilliance!!!

Really very excellent doc. The film chronicles not just the public reception of a camp classic, but the context in which it was made, the careers of the director and star and what brought them to this moment in time, and how certain motifs, while perhaps ignored at the time of the movie’s release, are in abundance. More than just a retread of the obvious camp qualities of Showgirls that make the movie so endlessly watchable. This doc is a fascinating and at times very academic exploration in cinema studies.

Hoo-boy! Where to start with this one?

This is Ross Hunter’s infamous musical version of James Hilton’s “Lost Horizon.” Essentially laughed off the screen in 1973, Columbia Pictures was so ashamed of this movie that they never released it on home video (until they recently decided ‘What the hell!’ and released it on DVD on October 6, 2011 – available at Amazon), even though it clearly cost a bunch of money and had some big name (for the time) stars…
