Whenever I think about this movie, I'm reminded of the story Jay from RedLetterMedia told on their commentary track for the original film. The remake was being shot in Jay's area, so, as a fan of the original with nothing better to do, he figured he'd go to the set and see if he could get involved. He ended up being cast as Kyle Gallner's stand-in, and at one point, he found himself chatting with the new Freddy, Jackie Earle…

Got my low expectations of Dutch cinema completely blown out of the water on this one! I was expecting a schlocky cultist movie but instead it's a rather good folk horror debut feature. The writer/director, Nico van den Brink, clearly wears his inspirations on his sleeve -- Moloch is very reminiscent of films like the Witch and Hereditary and to a lesser extent Midsommar and the Wicker Man -- but hey, better to steal well than create badly, and Eggers…

    Les Quatre de Monsieur Océan

It's kind of amazing to see how a seventy year old movie with barely any music, special effects, fancy shots and editing can be so much more captivating than the two hundred million dollar capeshit slop that came out last year. All you need is a great script and visual storytelling. Heck, there's like a 30-45 minute sequence in this without any dialogue at all.

May sound blasphemous to some, but I'd like to see…

This version of Superman is far, far better than the Zack Snyder abomination. It's a shame that there can no longer just be a superhero who stands for truth, justice and the American way. But while I did like that quaint tone and the equally quaint effects, I didn't think the movie was anything special beside that. There are a few fun "superman moments" and some mildly spicy humor I didn't expect, but the plot and characters didn't wow me.…

Genuinely one of the worst, most obnoxious and caustic movies I have ever seen. Not only does it manage to have terrible commentary, it does so in the most grating way possible.

I hated every aspect of this film. It felt like a very literal adaptation of a high school musical on the topic of race, just with a lot more swearing. The plot is almost non-existent. Characters literally walk onto the screen starting a fight with someone without any…

Brass, brawn, testosterone, sweat, blood and one ugly motherfucker.

It's been too long since I've watched this masterpiece, and what a shame; Predator is one of the most perfect movies ever made, in my humble opinion. I quite literally still get chills at certain scenes or shots.

Like the Terminator, Predator is one of those movies I absolutely loved when I first saw it. In fact, these two movies caused me to want to watch every single Arnold Schwarzenegger movie…
