Novacaine is exactly what I expected. It is an amusing, creatively designed action comedy that does not reinvent the wheel of action movies but instead gives the audience a dumb but entertaining thrill ride with plenty of laughs and quite a few nasty action moments, too.
And honestly, that’s just fine with me.
See this with a group of friends. The communal audience reaction in a theater really works for this sort of movie.

The skies feel a little less blue knowing that James Earl Jones has passed away. Hearing any lines of his voice in this sends shivers down my spine, and it just goes to show how his golden, booming voice shaped whole generations and then some. Truly one of the greatest multi-talented people to ever do it. What a talent. What a person. The word ‘legend’ just doesn’t seem to cover it.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Jones.
Oh yeah, and this movie is still incredible.
