If there's any negative is that the main bad dude is very much straightforward even if at the end it brings up a cool idea. Very fun film. Had a blast and loved every single performance here. On my soul Mark Ruffalo is good. But yeah Robert Pattinson is just that guy I'm afraid.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring 2001
Watched the extended editions after reading the books. My goodness not only a wonderful adaptation but a perfect movie. The journey across a land so beautiful really does make you understand that this world is worth protecting. The chase by the Ringwraiths is far more harrowing. The added stuff with Boromir makes the end so much better. In general, everything production wise is firing off on all cylinders. It is so tightly paced, a 4 hour movie ended up feeling 2 hours. Like this is Middle-Earth to me.

I think knowing where the world of this goes strengthens this movie a lot as what the Colonel fears comes to pass. As Apes become more and more civilized and the virus mutates, it's clear that the power dynamic of the world will change. Once again Caesar's characterization is given a new depth as while he has been leading his people through this tumultuous time, he's not going to be around forever. Which mirrors the Colonel's motivation as he himself…
