  I had a feeling of nostalgia when I was watching this movie, despite never having seen it before. For me, there are two sides to the film: a relic of the time (the beliefs); the style of cinema.

  This movie marks a clear point in the evolution of Chinese film. Paying homage to old and becoming the homage for new.

  It was wonderful seeing the next stage of evolution from King Hu's acrobatic martial arts and sword fight. At first I didn't know what to think of the use of wire rigging to depict flight. It clearly defied physics. Once I put the science aside I could see the poetry in such fantastic flight.
