Elvis may not be the best actor, but his musical performances really electrify the screen. The camera does a great service by allowing the audience to see his more subtle musical cues and expressions.

The last 2 minutes save this movie from being an absolute case of deja vu.

Warren William delivers a great performance as an obsessive banker out for only his own ego. Lots of pre-code lingerie, murder, and suicide, so strong for the 1930's overall, but not in the pantheon of pre-code greats.

Excellent use of an ensemble cast. Katharine Hepburn does a great routine of needing to be a good actress to play a bad one (until she's just Katharine again).
Also interesting to see Ann Miller in black and white, she is so often in Technicolor!
