Definitely has its dull moments but like all of Wes Anderson’s work I felt a strong emotional pull to the story and characters in this charmingly brought together setting that has me coming back for rewatch after rewatch.

Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio 2022
Love that we got a so bad it’s funny, just plain bad, and one of the best interpretations of this story in roughly the same time span.
If you asked me what a Pinocchio story needed I don’t think I would have ever answers with Nazis, and grasping with the concept of death but this film did it anyway. And it’s beautiful.

Somehow feeling like a fusion the works of Christy Karacas, Jhonen Vasquez, Capcom’s DarkStalkers, and The Bible .Both artistically and story wise. I get why people could hate on this film. The dialogue can be struggling at times and you can tell they tried their hardest to mush entire manga into this two hour film. While it may be repetitive or underdeveloped, I feel this film is a underrated gem.
With a smile on my face the entire time I watched it, this weird little anime struck a cord with me as one of my new favorite movies.
