  The first 30 or so minutes made me kind of really childishly happy because beneath all the layers of stupid letterboxd rym cynicism there is still just a 10 year old who really really loves Mario and I really loved seeing all the details of this world I love so much applied to the big screen. The rest was just slowly realising that there is absolutely nothing here and it is just another stupid and bad Illumination film. What else could you epect?

  The appeal of the FNAF story is that it refuses to actually tell itself through the medium it presents. It asserts itself as a horror game where you protect yourself from animatronics through a few security cameras but this gameplay represents 1% of the actual story. Most of the actual story is told through whatever fringe other means Scott Cawthom decides to tell it through, most commonly the least clear way possible. To most people this sounds like bad storytelling…
