Vibes and soundtrack capture the ’70s perfectly and performances were pitch perfect, but the story is kinda meh. The main characters are unlikable (especially Gary… not that Alana is any better), but the side characters save the film. I love PT Anderson, but this is not my favorite. Still, as a GenXer who was born in the mid 70s, it’s hard not to enjoy the nostalgia that was meticulously put together by Anderson. That was the only thing I really connected with.
