Elevator to the Gallows 1958
A more passive viewer would be drawn to this film for its action, but this is a mere trifle; as Gerard teaches us, the content is paramount. As for that content, it was pretty good but made better by a lively crowd of fellow passionate (and vocal!) cinephiles. Not sure you’ll get the same experience at home.

Probably Chaplin’s most feel-good movie even though it centers around his most obviously grim subject matter to this point.
