The Conjuring 2 2016
I finally watched this for the benefit of my dad, and turns out i HAVE actually seen it before.
I liked this one better than the first bc the main baddie wasn't a baby murdering witch, and there was a whole host of baddies (Bill Wilkins, The Crooked Man, Valak) to contend with.
That being said, I don't understand why these films are called "the conjuring" when there's no actual conjuring in any of them. Is there a different, nonmagical, potentially Catholic meaning of the word I don't understand?

I was delighted that this first one was gay! Great start. It also plays around and subverts high school stereotypes in the 90s,like the valedictorian cheerleader dealing drugs.
Very fun slasher vibes with a supernatural element. Witchy curses are fun! The naming conventions are delightfully prosaic, Shadyside for the cursed town, Sunnyvale…
