Lugubrious almost to a fault (maybe I was expecting more). This movie really really hits, like thunder in the summer humidity and heat. All of Klaus Kinski’s features are too big for his head, including those anime eyes. I don’t really think this penultimate speech, the first wrath of god speech, doesn’t quite feel earned, but I think this will sweeten upon a rewatch.
Moral of the story: never trust blondes.
