    Day of the Dead

George A. Romero's Day of the Dead was largely misunderstood when it was first released in 1985, and that's a real shame. In my opinion, this is Romero's masterpiece. Day is his tour de force.

Everything about this film is wonderful. Our main protagonist, Sarah (Lori Cardille), is a strong and intelligent character on par with the Alien franchise's Ripley. The supporting cast around her all turn in excellent performances as well, but the most notable one is definitely Joseph…

Look, I was becoming one of those people who is experiencing mad superhero fatigue.

It’s hard saying that because I grew up DEVOURING comic books, drawing superhero coloring pages, and dressing up in cheap polyester costumes and pretending to fight crime in friend’s back yards.

One of the most promising and atmospheric openings to a Godzilla movie soon gives way to a pretty generic and bland entry that features one of my least favorite Godzilla designs in the series.

20 minutes or so into the movie I googled to see what John Waters thought about the movie.

I guessed right - he loved it.

I did too. It’s a wild, swing for the fences type of movie.

    Do I think it’s a masterpiece? No.

Do I think it’s unfairly hated? Absolutely.

Should it be the most nominated Oscar movie in history? HELL NO.

But it deserves that cinematography nom FOR SURE.

Let’s be honest, if Liv Tyler rejected your proposal, three murdering psychopaths breaking into your home would be second worst thing to happen to you that night.

As a participant in the series, I’m absolutely biased - but still ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

So proud of everyone who worked on this.
