The character Parthenope was more captivating than the movie Parthenope itself—I can't think of a better way to put it.After watching my second Sorrentino film about Naples, I'm convinced I don't want to live there.
The first compliment I can give this film is that it doesn't feel like a three-hour movie. It's a film that grapples with profound questions about what truly matters in life. I found myself repeatedly questioning each character's motives. Perhaps the most important lesson I learned is that pursuing a grand life full of accomplishments will always have setbacks—and sometimes you'll be stripped of who you think you are, molded into who others want you to be. That's why worldly wisdom and grand accomplishments will never be enough. Life will always take more from you than you give. It always does.
Brilliant film.
