As we zoom out on the floating, corporate space chunk, and strings breathe a last breath, I hear a newborn crying in the apartment above me, feeling the weight of newfound burden. My eyes well up; a tear rolls down my cheek, wailing in autotune 🥹

Yes. This is the way Bergman's magnum opus must be viewed. The length gave the story and characters so much more room to breathe and develop.

There is something substantial about Fanny and Alexander; It's thematic saturation of spirituality, good vs. evil and family. Are they in hell? Purgatory? Are the characters symbolic of the seven deadly sins? I'm still making sense of it, and I'm sure I will for the next couple of days (which is exciting).

Let me know what you think :D

Definitely a grower for me. The final restaurant sequence is still as potent as it was when I watched it in the theater. I applaud Gilroy's direction and screenplay; a very relevant exploration into the relationship between entrepreneurship and explotation in the media today. Lou Bloom is, in a very morbid/possibly foretelling way, the American Dream fully realized: a late "Bloomer." 😆
