Good ol' Luc Besson. Dude knows how to make a visually striking action flick that gets you to think a little - even if it isn't quite as much as we're intended. Lucy covers some interesting bio-philosophical territory, distilled into a quaint action-movie mechanism that is nevertheless a lot of fun to explore. This is a solid popcorn-pounder. The soundtrack is also good, and Luc Besson knows how to find some great tunes to roll for end credits. Unfortunately, the soundtrack album itself is a little sparse, but a little treasure hunting leads to some good additions to a tune library.

Finishing up our recent run of Potter flicks, I find myself already looking forward to the next round. This is a decent climax and reasonably satisfactory resolution to the tale, and I'm always surprised with just how much ground it covers in the final installment.

I had a pretty solid expectation for this film based on what little I knew about it going in - and it lived up to it pretty well, for a while. But this film absolutely went in a few directions that I did not expect. Overall, this is an absolutely brilliant film that manages to deliver some impactful and important social commentary while avoiding a lot of the tropes that tend to mire that message in hamfisted…

I still love this film, even though I'm still also pretty sick of it. Gary wanted to watch it, and I mostly zoned in and out doing other stuff, but there are a handful of scenes that still crack me up every time ("Nice marmot..."). Now that I've had this on in the background, I'm probably good to skip it for another 10 years, but the dude still abides. Good times.
