    Even with Gregory Peck as Captain Ahab, it is hard to appreciate this adaptation of the classic novel. FX looks so fake and cheap even for 1956. Ugh!

    It’s a date night movie pure and simple. However it’s also a feel good movie. From start to finish nothing feels rushed except for the plot. Like P.S, I Love You, it’s telegraphed but somehow well grounded in reality. Overall it’s a fun movie.

    For those who like this European supernatural medical drama kudos. The narrative is unique but the pacing is just a not so engaging for my liking. I give it serious props for being original. When The X-Files was at its peak there was a significant increase of the supernatural genre. 

    Cult television in general is such a niche mixed bag. However I can also see how it grows on people. Perhaps it’s the fact ER also came out and it set the bar high for medical procedure drama. Nonetheless it’s an interesting ride to watch.
