Cocaine Bear 2023
Like Snakes on a Plane, the movie has a really great title, a fun concept that feels like it would write itself, and ultimately doesn't know how to cash in on it. This movie is way too mean-spirited and graphic to be a lighthearted comedy, which is kind what it wants to be. It has some real fun and charming moments, but then right on the heels of that will be some intense gore... and that is basically the formula of the movie. I kinda wish I hadn't seen it.

This movie is a bit perplexing. It has a lot of really promising elements but somehow adds up to less than the sum of its parts.
I'd venture to say that problem number 1 is Nicholas Cage who, if I'm being generous, was miscast. He has his moments but he's not great.
Brian de Palma is also not at his best here. He is somehow equal parts masterful and confounding here. I haven't seen all of his catalog to know…
