  Jesus that was a bleak ending.

  Kurosawa is probably the greatest director to ever live. My favourites are Tarkovsky, Carpenter and him, not in any particular order. He made some of the greatest movies ever, and Ran is one of them.

  What an incredible performance. Every moment is pure emotion from Roger and his band, who sounded great.

  Viewed on Umbrella Entertainment DVD.

  Alright... this is one of the best movies ever made. This is what it means to be human.

  French new wave + noir = an anti-noir film. Godard takes the noir nihilism and slowly suffuses it with humanism.

  The city of Alphaville is, as humans, our most perfect state, without fault. But with perfection comes total unambiguity. We would lose what makes us think, what makes…
