So the first film was pretty much in the mold of a standard family-oriented animated feature. It took a while, but it eventually dawned on me whilst watching Nezha 2 that it was an entirely different beast. I wasn’t really prepared for what turned out to be a full-blown fantasy action epic.
The plot? Fuck knows. The animation is so sick though and the action is just killer. Feels like a distinct Chinese style has been established here as well, rather than an imitation of Hollywood or Japan, which is just wonderful to witness.
