A parable of women’s liberation and actualisation that fails on a fundamental level - the director/writer hopes you are so drawn in by the music that you forget that his surrogate for woman is inhuman, literally a robot constructed by a man. Unfortunately almost everything Alex Garland makes tends to fall apart after given any kind of basic scrutiny.
