Cons:
• I could both feel and see the reshoots—I should not be able to so clearly see the green screen on a movie with a budget as high as this one has.
• The script repeatedly tells me how great Sam Wilson’s Captain America is rather than allowing moments where his greatness is shown to do the heavy lifting.
• Having this be a pseudo Incredible Hulk and Eternals sequel was…
What an enormous disappointment from Yorgos Lanthimos. I get what the film was trying to say, but the execution does not work for me.
That makes for 2 hits and 2 misses from Yorgos’s filmography.
I’m usually not a fan of the era of endless sequels and prequels we’re living in, but this one nearly made me tear up and that’s not something I can say for the majority of movies nowadays. Therefore, I’m giving it a solid 4 out of 5 — cathartic.
