Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

An elderly man yelled at a family in the theater because their kids were mildly rambunctious (I'm normally the snob who gets bothered by this, but they didn't particularly bother me). The father said, "I'm sorry, my kids are going through a tough time," but then the old dude interrupted him. "I don't give a f***. Don't bring your ******* kids to the theater." He then claimed to be a gentleman. I'm pretty sure they almost got into a fight.
The movie was also really bad.

    I loved this film...
for the first thirty minutes or so. The movie is very poorly paced; it definitely frontloads the songs. I honestly kept forgetting that I was watching a musical because the songs were so infrequent.
It also became generic after that first half hour or so. The songs elevated the reality of the film, making it eccentric and allowing to stand out from your standard romance film. After a while, it just becomes something we've all seen…

A fantastic suspense movie. The buildup was tense, the acting was superb, and the small enclosed setting suited the movie perfectly. All in all, a great movie...
...until the ending. The ending throws away all of the character drama that had been built up, and then subjects you to what feels like an entirely different movie in a different genre. I was loving this movie until the ending, which really came out of left field and disappointed me.
I still enjoyed the movie overall, but I'm unlikely to watch it again thanks to the poor ending.
