  Will said "I want a really funny romcom?" on Valentine's Day and I was reminded this movie existed by the streaming gods. I loved this movie as a young teen and it is, in fact, the goofiest romcom to ever romcom

  I love this miniseries SO much partly for nerd reasons (i.e., it is almost a word-for-word adaptation) and nostalgia. However, I think the biggest thing this miniseries gets right is the tone. It understands that the novel is a satire poking fun at social class, patriarchy, and the institute of marriage through a whole host of zany characters that need not be taken seriously. It is light and sometimes over the top. I get so many laughs from it. Plus like who doesn't want to watch Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle stare at each other intensely a whole bunch? 😂
