I dislike Citizen Kane but for more nuanced reasons than you.

The Shawshank Redemption 1994
This movie is one of the best that has ever been made. I think that Andy was played so well and Morgan Freeman also killed it. The hope given by Andy to Red and the thought of Institutionalizing of Brooks and Red made this one great in addition to the set design. I’d say it’s a near perfect movie.

The Thing 1982
I loved this movie, only cheesey thing was the ufo at the very beginning. They should have hired Douglas Trumbull from 2001 for that 5 second sequence.
But the environment of paranoia was perfectly crafted and I loved that bad guy wasn’t ever seen on screen too much as to make me used to it. Made me uncomfortable every time and the effects were just as amazing on the second watch.

Tomorrowland 2015
I don’t usually cry in movies but for some reason this film by Brad Bird Tomorrowland got to me.
The part that got to me is at the end when I realized that 2hr and 10min of my ever fleeting life was spent watching this yawn of a film. I went to read the Wiki plot for this one to give a few tags at the bottom like normal, but fell asleep reading it. Just utter complete cheese…
Super cheesy.
Boring.0.5/5

Casablanca 1942
Re watch this with my wife at an old timey theater in Sheffield, AL. It still holds up as my favorite movie ever.
It isn’t as rewatchable as something like Prisoners but it is just a masterpiece of screen writing and character development with conflictHow can you write in an immoral choice for a loveable main character and make the audience secretly hope he makes the immoral choice?
