Thought the second part of the movie was great, felt hard to connect the two halves besides a general theme of desire to be in love tho

A Room with a View 1986
Lovely film. The far out shots, particularly in Florence, are perhaps what are most striking. The distant camera and beautiful use of color lend an ease to the laid-back pacing of the film.
I read this film as being about the visceral effect of love, how quickly it can change people, free them to live as they want.
Points to the soundtrack, well-coordinated with setting and all good music.

A strong case for 4:3 aspect ratio. There is a pervasive mood of claustrophobia throughout the film, accentuated by strong, long shadows and the generous use of medium close-ups, especially those angled up at Welles’ character.
The unrelenting noise, whether it be from the noticeably noisy score or the fast-paced dialogue, keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Orson Welles outshines the other two leads, though that may be a product of his physical presence and the fact that he directed the film. All of the side characters certainly add color to the film.
