The Lighthouse 2016
Contrary to the sneers of swathes of Letterboxd users, mocking comparisons to The Lighthouse (2019) are unfair. Where Eggers thrives in wallowing in mythology and the Weird, Crow focuses on a closer retelling of the tragedy of the Smalls Lighthouse to the effect of a Naturalist Horror. The insanity is actual and determined, and so on.

Confession of a Child of the Century 2012
Disturbingly dull and drab. Doherty tries his best to instil a sense of the intelligent and witty libertine but is far too shallow to go beyond a 16 year old after reading Camus. Charlotte Gainsbourg is painfully wasted in such a boring affair. Much like The Libertine, it does so much to seek attention at how profound it is, but comes off as an endless cliché of failed pretentiousness.
