    Moana 2

    ★★★

The animation itself almost pushed this to a 3 and a half but unfortunately, Moana 2 does feel like a miniseries reengineered. It feels very straight to dvd for the first two acts and then picks up in the third, getting very dramatic and feeling more like a worthy sequel.

I still had a good time but it doesn’t touch the first one in my opinion.

    Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

    ★★

Everyone looks completely disinterested in this film. So many actors just saying stuff, and looking like they’re off in fairy land. CG looks terrible in most shots, both in terms of the actors and their environments. I swear that they’ve mastered the look of Aquaman underwater in previous movies but in this, it’s a floating face on a digital head with horrific digital floating hair.

Gonna have trouble driving home after seeing this.

The film’s pretty silly at times and the notion that this whole thing could’ve been avoided constantly weighs on your mind but Russell Crowe is a damn scary psychopath.

    Classic B-movie thrills.

    The Hateful Eight

    ★★★★½

You know that when 2 hours and 40 minutes goes by in the nick of time that you have a fantastic movie on your hands. Delightfully gory, spectacularly shot and beautifully written, The Hateful Eight is Tarantino at his violent best. No wonder Samuel L Jackson keeps getting pulled back in, it’s hard to resist quality storytelling at this level.
