For what it is, this film represents why something that can seem as niche as Godzilla can produce good representation for why the blockbuster should exist. I went into this film wanting to see a giant monkey fight an ancient cranky giant lizard & I got exactly that. This exists as mainly eye candy & action for some but it also gives great fan service & callbacks that aren't too intrusive or demeaning to viewers who wouldn't get the reference & could feel dumb.…
What was truly the purpose of this if not to just satisfy every DC fan's craving for something that possibly never truly existed. On the surface, this is a better movie, Whedon did Ezra Miller & Ray Fisher dirty in the original cut & the overall film benefits from the restoration of the very things that gave them purpose to appear in the movie to begin with.
However, it's still a mess. Steppenwolf's storyline also improved dramatically but it just can't save…
