Oh boy...
Ok, so it's a good movie, I guess? It looks pretty, the story is... present, and the world building is pretty nice. I particulary like the visualization of the Baron.
But... as an adaptation of the book? I'm not impressed. I know that comparing a book to its movie isn't really a fair comparison; they're two different mediums, and book has the luxury of being able to just say things wheras the movie has to try and visualize…

You know, watching this movie made me realize I hadn't actually ever seen a Japanese movie that directly deals with WW2. And as first introductions to the subject matter come, this is a pretty good one.
It's kind of janky at times, but I was always hooked and wanted to keep watching. Not much else to say, really.

Give it watch! It was pretty good, and it's always cool to see stories being told in a strange new way. The story keeps you hooked, the visuals are beautiful, and the characters are fun to watch. All round, a pretty cool time.
