Shaolin Soccer 2001
Better than the Matrix. It took that formula, and improved it greatly. Truly one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in yonks, it’s jam full of stupid crazy humour, action, weirdly-good plot points, and truly memorable moments. Society could truly be perfected if it just had more Kung Fu.

Captain Fantastic 2016
A film that constantly challenged my expectations. The moral questions in this film are so complex and vivid that I simply could not decide who was right and who was wrong throughout the whole picture, and I constantly found myself going back and forth in my mind. All of the characters are interesting and the child acting is very good, and I love all of the unique ideas and concepts that come from it - an adaptation of philosophical concepts. It’s heartwarming and sad and well-paced and I think it is very good.

Desperado 1995
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Modern day spaghetti western (minus the spaghetti) with ridiculous guns and cool shots (that’s a double meaning) and some real quality squibbing, in which Quentin Tarantino gets what he deserves (a joke, sorry Quentin) and Steve Buscemi loves piss? Sign me the freak up.

Knives Out 2019
I see what everyone was on about now. Best part of the film? Daniel Craig’s stupid accent (it honestly works very well). Honourable mentions: The beautiful cinematography and colour grading, the expertly written dialogue, the editing that takes you through everything like you’re some kind of genius, but also withholds just as much information as it needs to, and the just superb windy windy plot. It’s exactly the detective story I wanted it to be, but not quite in the way I expected, which is why I was hoping for.
