Lawrence of Arabia 1962
An incredible film filled with very scenic and aesthetically pleasing shots. It was shot after shot of visually stunning settings and camerawork.
The dialogue is witty, soulful and really makes the viewer ponder (like how the characters in the movie must) all the abstract ideas, dilemmas, and ideals presented. It does a great job of showing the humanity of each character, and you can find yourself invested even in the minor characters.

American Psycho 2000
American Psycho is a unique film in that it is in a genre all of its own. Horror and satire is something I never thought would have mixed, but American Psycho delivered a funny, yet mature experience. The subtleties of 80s yuppie culture are brought to light and lets the viewer get an inside look at just how ridiculous office work was. The mixing of dark themes like murder and mental illness was well orchestrated into the satirical nature of the film. The ending is rather open ended and really leaves the viewer thinking.
