Was sure that I'd hate it the moment the Uncharted 3 scene started the movie but I was pleasantly surprised. There's still a handful of dumb plot decisions and casting but it was a very entertaining adventure movie that doesn't take itself serious, unlike the Tomb Raider reboot that I loathed. The final setpiece of the movie was a hoot, and I'm happy they did something original, yet silly with it.

I also have to give Stephen King props for a memorable performance, he could have had a career as a comedic actor if he had wanted.

A lovely classic that at times feels more like a mellow adventure movie than a horror film, especially with the very bombastic and modern feeling soundtrack by Jerry Goldsmith. A great big Lovecraftian odyssey into Robert Thorns own madness and demise and very much a film with the same DNA as John Carpenters later apocalypse trilogy.
I really enjoy how small scale everything feels, even though the consequences of the story will be the end of everything or at the…
