  A Different Man 2024

  What a ride. The first half had my thinking I was in for an emotional drama, but by the end the movie had somehow morphed into a dark comedy that didn’t really land with me. But this is a testament to the first half, which had me really dialed in. Still a great mix of emotional beats, genuine laughs, some terrifying body horror, and a welcome feeling of no sense of where the story could be headed throughout.

  Holy...shit? Yikes. Wow.

  This movie is nuts. The moody, sepia colored shots (seriously, there has to be only a handful of scenes that aren’t drenched in subdued yellows), the minimal dialogue, the constant feel of isolation and fear...

  And the spiders.

  I wish I had a theory about what’s going on here. I just read a couple and they sound profound. More than I could come up with. I need to bake on this one.
