A Different Man 2024
What a ride. The first half had my thinking I was in for an emotional drama, but by the end the movie had somehow morphed into a dark comedy that didn’t really land with me. But this is a testament to the first half, which had me really dialed in. Still a great mix of emotional beats, genuine laughs, some terrifying body horror, and a welcome feeling of no sense of where the story could be headed throughout.

This movie is nuts. The moody, sepia colored shots (seriously, there has to be only a handful of scenes that aren’t drenched in subdued yellows), the minimal dialogue, the constant feel of isolation and fear...
