  Ron Howard did more than polish this film after a previous helmer was fired. The veteran director made Solo his own. Ron takes us back to his Roger Corman days with the lovers on the lam theme from Grand Theft Auto (1977) but with hovering speeders and blasters. Where's my cape?

  Lewis Milestone's Technicolor was film boasts an astounding cast Richard Widmark, Neville Brand, Walter 'Jack' Palance, Karl Malden, Richard Boone, Robert Wagner, and Jack Webb. If the cast alone isn't enough to encourage you to seek this one out--maybe this will: HALLS shares themes and techniques with Spielberg's SAVING PRIVATE RYAN and Malick's THE THIN RED LINE both released in 1998.
